La-Ms Section NExT

Section NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) Application

Designed for new college and university faculty holding a masters or doctorate in the mathematical sciences, Section NExT (New Experiences in Teaching)  is a two year professional development program that addresses the full  range of faculty responsibilities including teaching, scholarly  activities, and service.

THE GOALS FOR THE LA/MS SECTION NEXT:

  1. To create a space in the Louisiana Mississippi MAA Section to address the needs and concerns of new faculty .

  2. To engage participants in discussions about current trends and innovations in undergraduate education.

  3. To establish collaboration and interaction between faculty from the variety of institutions in our section.

  4. To encourage the participation of new faculty and their students in the activities of the LA-MS Section of the MAA.

  5. To match participants with mentors from similar institutions.

LA-MS Section NExT Fellows have the opportunity to participate in sessions developed with the needs of new faculty in mind. While these sessions are open for all to attend, the planning of the sessions was to support new faculty. These sessions typically take place on Friday morning between 8 am and noon. There are many other sessions during the meeting that will be of interest to new faculty.
